Do you realize there is a war being fought for your soul? satan vs God, the darkness vs the light. Light illuminates the dark, where there is light darkness cannot exist!
“Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers , against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual host of wickedness in the heavenly places.” Ephesians 6:11-12
satan’s greatest weapon is your mind. The thoughts, how you perceive yourself and the things happening around you. He feeds and strengthens himself off your emotions which are fleeting at best; Like a wave in the ocean crashing into your circumstances and just as quickly washing away.
The mind Is a very powerful tool, it has great influence on every aspect of our life and how we live it. satans mission is to fill it full of lies and focus us on the dark side of our circumstances. Some of the weapons of his warfare are manifested today In depression, addiction, low self esteem and despair just to name a few. Once he gets into your mind and starts to direct your journey he leads you further and further into the darkness. Because it is utter darkness you cannot see the way or know that you are being lead down a path of destruction. This is his stronghold. The approach is suttle but the voice is very loud.
The voice of justification:
What would it hurt to have one more drink?
Go ahead and try it, one time isn’t going to hurt anything.
It’s just lunch together not like your spouse will even know.
What harm is there in checking out that porno site, I mean we are just looking.
You have to go party with the gang or you are going to be a misfit. You want to be popular don’t you?
The voice of verification:
Your right you don’t fit in.
You do better with a little alcohol first loosen things up.
If you want to be sexy you need to watch more porn to teach you what sex is all about.
You know it is so much easier to talk to him/her than your spouse, they get you.
You tried it once no harm was done so continuing won’t be a problem.
Then the cycle of the downward spiral into the pit of darkness begins. It is not a sudden choice but a slow fade of one bad choice after another, then suddenly you hit bottom!
“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds. Casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God. bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.” 2 Corinthians 10:4-5
Then enters the light to illuminate the darkness. The light of the truth of Gods word. For every lie the enemy spits out there is the light of the truth in Gods word to defeat it!
” For you formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” Psalms 139: 14
“Do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the spirit” Ephesians 5:18
“Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; Let your conduct be without covetousness: be content with such things as you have” Hebrews 13: 4-5
Our mind operates on what goes in and is allowed to make camp; that is what our lives reflect. It is so important that we guard our minds against the lies of the enemy. We may not be able to stop the voice completely, but we can illuminate the darkness he is spitting out by filling our minds with Gods truth. The bible is not something to adorn your bookshelf and make you appear holy or even as an accessory you carry to church every sunday; but it is a weapon in the most important battle you will ever fight; the battle for the eternal home of your soul. So why would we want to shelve such a valuable asset to our existence both here and in the eternal.
“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” Romans 12:2
I pray that you will take a journey with me through my past and let me show you the ways that God’s truth has completely transformed my life. I was imprisoned by the strongholds I allowed the enemy to embed in my mind. Where the spirit of the Lord is there is freedom!! True freedom and I so want to help you be set free too!!
